Hōkūle‘a and Hikianalia are back home at Sand Island. Each wa‘a has been in dry dock, and are now both in the water, stronger than ever. Crewmembers are engaged in sea trials and safety training, schools are preparing their students to follow us in the classroom, and we are reaching out to the Pacific Island communities we hope to visit.
We are planning to depart O‘ahu for Hilo on May 17, 2014, weather permitting. From Hilo, the sister canoes will sail to Tahiti, the first international leg of the Worldwide Voyage. Click here for a map and sail plan for Mālama Honua through 2017.
