The vessels Hōkūle‘a and Hikianalia will leave in 2013 to visit our Polynesian and Pacific Island cousins, before venturing out beyond the great Pacific to pay respects to communities and leaders around the world. Mindful of the ecological and social challenges facing Hawai‘i nei and Island Earth, we will seek out, build relationships with, and learn from people and places around the world already doing extraordinary work to care for the Earth. We will celebrate the wisdom, traditions and successes in ways that provide lessons of hope, and that inspire action within us as we navigate toward a safer, more sustainable destination for all our children.
The Worldwide Voyage will take us to more than 70 ports in 25+ countries, logging more than 46,000 nautical miles over nearly 3 years. Join the crew.
Polynesian Voyaging Society has always relied heavily on individual grants, donations and partnerships to support our vision. We now ask for your help in preparing Hōkūle‘a and Hikianalia for this monumental voyage.
